About Northstack

Built to fix what we lived ourselves.

Northstack started as a reaction to the same problem, seen at one startup after another: HR, client management, and payroll tracking held together with spreadsheets and tools that don't talk to each other.

Our story

Throughout my career, I kept seeing the same pattern repeat itself across different startups: a growing team outgrows its spreadsheets, and the "solution" ends up being three or four disconnected tools — one for people, one for the sales pipeline, one for tracking payroll — none of which share a login, a permission model, or a source of truth.

The tools built to fix that are almost always built for companies much bigger than that. They come with enterprise pricing, months-long implementations, and features a five-to-fifty-person team will never touch. Northstack is what I wished existed instead: one modular platform, sized and priced for the team you actually have today, that adds capability as you grow rather than demanding you grow into it first.

It's still early — the product is in active development, and I'm building it in the open, one module at a time, with real teams using it and shaping what comes next.

Vision

A future where switching to "real" business software doesn't mean a six-month implementation and enterprise pricing. We believe a five-person team deserves tools as considered as a five-hundred-person team's — just sized, priced, and built for where they actually are.

Multi-tenant from day one. Every company's data is isolated at the database level and never shares a row with anyone else's.

Northstack was born from frustration — a platform built so every company can run itself independently, without bending its operations to fit a rigid system. That's the idea I keep testing every feature against.

Right now, I'm the person designing it, building it, and answering support email — which is a trade-off. It means Northstack is still small and still adding modules, but it also means there's a direct line between what you tell me and what I ship next. I'm focused on solid foundations before rushed features, and I'd rather grow slowly on a platform that holds up than rush something that doesn't.
